The Jonathan Tarr Foundation is an education-based non profit located in Encinitas, CA., providing Windows of Opportunity Scholarships to a diverse population of under-served boys and girls not normally targeted for academic assistance.
JTF is becoming the leader in the quest to provide higher education and leadership opportunities to students graduating from Continuation, Charter, Magnet, Independent and Secondary High Schools offering alternative education curriculum, including AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination).

- Jonathan Tarr Foundation hosted the 7th Annual Ohana (Family) Picnic at Glen Park Pavilion in Cardiff to honor the Class of 2009 Students, their families and teachers. Teresa Barth, City of Encinitas Council, joined Encinitas Chamber of Commerce President, Ken Gross, in greeting 187 guests and volunteers. The event was sponsored in part by the City of Encinitas and the Mizel Family Foundation Community Grants Program and Michele Riley, MBA/CPA. Encinitas Rotary Club cooked the hot dogs and hamburgers. The moonlight Beach Ukulele Strummers entertained the guests with traditional Hawaiian music and hula.

- Kelly Auimataga (2003 Mt. Miguel HS) graduated from Grossmont College with an AA degree then recently graduated from The Art Institute of California - Los Angeles with a BS degree in graphic design. OJ Auimataga, Jr. graduated from Helix Charter HS with the Class of 2009. This is the first time that Jonathan Tarr Foundation scholarships have been awarded to a brother/sister in San Diego County.

- July 4th Festivities
- Robin Tarr, Founder of Jonathan Tarr Foundation, received the San Diego Hometown Heroes Award for making a difference n the community as sponsored in part by KyXy Radio 96.5 and the San Diego County Fair at the July 4th Celebrations in Del Mar. JTF representatives Michael Woodey, Sherry Yardley, Beth Atuatasi and Dot Saurer also enjoyed the Hometown Heroes Parade, Southwestern Marines Band, Fireworks Display, and Mo Town's Smokey Robinson Show.
