Jonathan Tarr Foundation, at the 37th Annual Luau in
Buena Park for her work in recognizing the Hawaiian students of
Southern California. |

$124,000 and 154 scholarships from 1999 to 2006, have served a
highly diverse community of students graduating from 47 high schools
representing 17 high school districts in San Diego County. 34% of
the total recipients are of Pacific Islander heritage and starting
2007, JTF scholarships will also touch the lives of student
recipients in the Greater Los Angeles area. |

KSWB TV Channels 5/69 of San Diego honored Robin J. Tarr,
Founder of Jonathan Tarr Foundation, as Asian-Pacific Islander
of the Year 2003. The United States and Canada recognize
May as Asian Pacific Islander Month. Video-taped Community
Service segments were aired throughout the month of May featuring
the Jonathan Tarr Foundation story. “Students attending
continuation, charter and secondary high schools offering
alternative education programs are not broken and they don’t need to
be fixed, they just need a different way to succeed in graduating
from high school. JTF recognizes their potential and
rewards their determination,” stated Robin Tarr. |

The North County Times and Californian Newspapers serving San
Diego North County and Southwest Riverside County, recognized Robin
Tarr, Founder of the Jonathan Tarr Foundation, as one of ten
2002 Women of Merit at the La Costa Resort and Spa at a gala
luncheon for 450 guests. Laurie Brindle, feature writer for the
North County Times noted, “Each of these women has seen a need and
served their communities with uncommon vision and strength. Some
have overcome great obstacles to do so. All have made a difference
with their compassion, wisdom and selfless hard work.” JTF is
based in Encinitas, CA. |

Born in Honolulu, Oahu, Robin Tarr has ancient paternal ties to
Hanapepe, Kauai., and maternal bonds to the Wong-June Family, an
influential pioneer Chinese Family in the State of Arizona. She was
raised in Flagstaff, AZ, where she attended Northern Arizona
University. Ms. Tarr has lived in five different States; Riyadh,
Saudi Arabia; London, England; and has traveled extensively.
Cardiff By-the-Sea in San Diego North County has been her home for
20 years. Eldest son, Christopher Tarr, graduated from University
of Hawaii at Manoa. He now resides in Lakewood, CO. Youngest
son, Jonathan Tarr, was only seventeen when he died in a tragic auto
accident on July 2,1998. Ms. Tarr is the founder of the Jonathan
Tarr Foundation, a fully recognized 501 (c )(3) Non-Profit
Corporation, established in his memory in 2001. |
